STATEMENT: YOUTH MATCH ABANDONMENT

The match between Monmouth Town and Ton Pentre was abandoned on 88 minutes by the match referee

The match between Monmouth Town and Ton Pentre in the Ivy Court Welsh League Youth Division East, played on Monday 13 April, was abandoned in the 88th minute by the match referee.

Ton Pentre Football Club has launched an internal investigation into the incidents relating to the abandonment and the Club also expects to work closely with the relevant football authorities to assist them with their enquiries.

At the time of the abandonment, Monmouth Town were winning the match 4-1.

In accordance with Welsh Football League Rule 16, the League’s Management Committee will now decide upon the outcome of the match in due course, along with any other actions that they may feel appropriate.

In other Welsh League Youth Division East news, Newport YMCA have withdrawn from the League, which means Ton Pentre’s scheduled fixtures against them on Sunday, 17 May has now been cancelled.

As a result, Ton Pentre’s final match of the season will be on Sunday, 10 May against Taffs Well at Ynys Park.

Ton Pentre Youth’s next match will be on Sunday, 19 May when they visit Cwmbran Celtic.
