This match between Ton Pentre and Garden Village was a non-event with neither team creating much in front of goal. There was no spark in the game and the 0-0 draw seemed like the inevitable outcome.
Prior to this match, Garden Village were in the Division One relegation zone following Afan Lido’s 3-2 midweek win over Pontardawe Town. It was therefore a surprise that Garden Village didn’t look to force the game more in an attempt to get the maximum points out of the match.
The Bulldogs best chance in this match came in the 80th minute when some trickery from Dan Richard saw him past a defender and into the Garden Village box. The striker shot at goal but the effort was blocked by a defender before reaching goalkeeper Chris Curtis.
With their point from this match, Garden Village have moved out of the relegation zone on goal difference, resulting in Afan Lido slipping back into the bottom three. Meanwhile, the Bulldogs are still looking over their shoulders despite being 10th in the League due to the tight nature of Division One.
Ton Pentre have now been unbeaten for three matches but will know that they will have to play much better if they want to give themselves a chance of beating Rhondda rivals Cambrian & Clydach Vale on Friday, 17 April at Ynys Park (KO 7:30pm).
