A depleted Bulldogs squad travelled to Monmouth Town having been savaged mainly by injuries and suspensions. Those factors in the end proved too difficult to overcome as the Kingfishers ran out 3-0 winners.
In general there was little quality in the match from either team but as half-time approached, Ton Pentre had built up some confidence and created a few chances from which they could have scored. However, the Bulldogs were dealt a blow as Monmouth netted with practically the last kick of the half.
Just moments after the start of the second half, Ton Pentre’s problems worsened as Monmouth doubled their lead. The goal appeared to be offside but with the assistant referee failing to lift his flag, the score was 2-0.
A bold formation change saw the Bulldogs go all out attack, however, luck was not on their side as they saw one effort cleared off the line and another strike the crossbar.
With so many men being pushed forward, it was inevitable that Monmouth would create another goal scoring chance and they made it 3-0 with a counter-attack in added time.
The Bulldogs return to Ynys Park on Saturday, 23 December as they welcome Undy to the Rhondda for a 2:00pm kick off.
