Lee Phillips and Ton Pentre part company

Ton Pentre AFC and manager Lee Phillips have parted company through mutual consent.

The decision comes following a disappointing start to the 2017/18 Welsh League Division One season that has seen the Bulldogs fail to register a win in six attempts.

Ton Pentre currently sit second from bottom in the table with three points from six games.

Phillips was appointed to the Bulldogs hot seat in December 2014. A highlight of his tenure in charge came in December 2016 when he guided the Bulldogs to Round 3 of the JD Welsh Cup and a home tie against Bangor City, which was the first live televised broadcast of a football match from the Rhondda.

A spokesperson for the Bulldogs said: “We’d like to thank Lee for his service here at Ynys Park. Since his appointment he has been fully supportive of all the hard work that has gone on off the pitch.

“We wish him the very best for the future.”
