Ton Pentre produced a solid display as they eventually breezed past Swansea University at Sketty Lane with a 5-1 victory.
The newly promoted Welsh League Division Three outfit played some neat football throughout the match but were unable to convert it into goal scoring chances, for which the Bulldogs made them pay.
Ton Pentre always looked comfortable in the match and the difference in class between the two teams began to tell after 20 minutes when the Bulldogs took the lead through Sam Small.
The Ton Pentre striker scored a marvellous goal from the edge of the box, where he brought the ball under control on the top of his thigh before swivelling to volley it into the roof of the net.
Ten minutes later Leon Jacka made it 2-0 when he cheekily took a quick free quick and chipped it into the right-side of the goal as the Swansea University goalkeeper and defence let their concentration slip.
The students pulled a goal back in the 54th minute with a lovely strike from outside the box, however, their hopes of a comeback were short lived as moments later Small headed in his second goal of the match from a corner kick.
As the match progressed into the final 1o minutes, the Bulldogs really made their class show as they added two further goals.
Huw Bowtell prodded the ball over the line following a scramble in the box before Matthew Smith was released by a cross-field pass to neatly strike the ball low into the net for 5-1.
The Bulldogs continue their pre-season preparations at home on Tuesday, 1 August against Blaenrhondda at 7:30pm. Once again, a ‘pay what you like’ entry fee will be operated.
