Ton Pentre were left completely frustrated at Ynys Park as Afan Lido ran out 2-0 winners, despite the Bulldogs dominating the match and creating multiple chances to score.
By the time Afan Lido took a 28th minute lead through a lovely Elliot Thomas strike, Ton Pentre could have easily been four goals up in the tie.
Liam Reed, Adam Lewis, Kurt Hodges and Sam Small were all presented with opportunities but fortune favoured Afan Lido.
The Bulldogs suffered a double injury blow during the first half with Scott Hayward and Sam Small being forced off the field and replaced by Liam Hutchinson and Corey Shephard.
Hutchinson came close to levelling the match as half-time approached when the Bulldogs were awarded a free kick. Hutchinson struck a a great effort but the ball cannoned off the crossbar.
The second half played out much the same as the first, however, Afan Lido were able to muster a little more in attack and hit the post on 71 minutes.
A minute later the away team doubled their lead when they were awarded a soft penalty after Thomas Davies was adjudged to have bundled an opponent over in the box. Alex Gammond made it 2-0 from the spot.
That’s how the match finished and Ton Pentre were left bewildered as to how they hadn’t been the team to take all three points from the match.
The Bulldogs next match is on Saturday, 22 April at Caerau Ely. Kick off is at 2:30pm.
