THE BULLDOGS SCORE SIX IN TAFFS WELL ROUT

Ton Pentre 6-0 Taffs Well | Welsh League Division One | Saturday, 11 March 2017 | Ynys Park

Ton Pentre produced one of their best performances of the season against Taffs Well with Sam Small bagging a hat-trick in a 6-0 win.

The Bulldogs are now undefeated in five matches and sit four points clear of the Welsh League Division One relegation zone.

The first half of this match was a tight affair with the Bulldogs creating two excellent chances to break the deadlock before Taffs Well hit the post.

Ton Pentre then scored a perfectly timed goal just before half-time when Corey Shephard’s corner found Liam Hutchinson, who powered the ball into the back of  Tom Badger’s net.

The Bulldogs struck again the other side of the interval when a lovely move up the pitch ended with Sam Small nudging the ball over the line for 2-0.

Taffs Well had a shot cleared off the line and a penalty appeal turned down before they suffered a collapse at Ton Pentre’s hands.

On the hour, Shephard’s corner kick was headed into the goal by Small for his brace. As the ball made its way towards the goal, the presence of Andre Griffiths in the six-yard box seemed to draw the attention of the defenders, allowing the ball to bounce in unchallenged.

The Bulldogs were in full control of this fixture and scored a fourth goal shortly after from a free kick. Hutchinson powerfully hit the ball into the top lefthand corner of the goal. Badger got a hand to the ball but it was too powerful to stop.

It got even better for Ton Pentre when Shephard provided accuracy once again from a corner kick to find a teammate in the box. It was Griffiths on the end of the cross on this occasion and he scored a lovely headed goal to make it 5-0.

The Bulldogs made three substitutions before scoring their sixth goal. Matthew Smith replaced Shephard, Brad Williams came on for Thomas Davies and Alex Adshead was handed his debut as Hutchinson made way for the youth team product.

With 90 minutes on the clock, Williams played an excellent ball forward that set Small free on goal to score his third of the match and Ton Pentre’s sixth goal.

NEXT GAME: The Bulldogs play Caerau Ely on Saturday, 18 March at Ynys Park. Kick off is at 2:30pm.
