Newtown 4-1 Ton Pentre l FAW Youth Cup Round 3 l Sunday, 20 November 2016 l Latham Park

Ton Pentre were their own worst enemies in the FAW Youth Cup Round 3 against Newtown in Mid Wales.

The young Bulldogs gifted the home team with three of their four goals as the Robins dumped Ton Pentre out of the cup.

Newtown took the lead on 15 minutes through Lyndon Jones after he was on the end of a poor pass back. With the Bulldogs goalkeeper also slipping, Jones had an open goal to shoot into.

Some good work from Nicky Rees shortly after saw him set-up Kurt Hodges to strike the equalising goal.

Before half-time, Ton Pentre created some excellent chances to take the lead but were unable to make their chances count.

Newtown regained the lead shortly after the interval when a cross into the box was headed into the net by a Ton Pentre defender for an own goal.

The Bulldogs were practically out of the game in the 63rd minute when Cenwyn Bloor-Jones saw his long range effort somehow go under James Lowe in the Ton Pentre goals.

As Ton Pentre piled forward, Newtown stole through to score a fourth goal off the boot of Samed De Groot.
