Ton Pentre progressed to Round 3 in the JD Welsh Cup following a 2-1 win over Treowen Stars thanks to goals from Liam Hutchinson and Sam Small.
The Bulldogs were reasonably comfortable throughout this match and a shock result never really looked on the cards, despite Treowen having an early chance to take the lead but were denied by Bulldogs goalkeeper Joe Massaro.
Ton Pentre went down the other end of the pitch and when the referee awarded the Bulldogs a free kick from 35-yards out, Liam Hutchinson blasted the ball into the top right-hand corner for 1-0.
The game was scrappy at times with Treowen attempting to break up play to stop Ton Pentre from getting any momentum, however, Sam Small pounced on a defensive error in added time to give the Bulldogs a 2-0 lead at half-time.
Ton Pentre were in control during the second half and Treowen were barely able to create any kind of goalscoring opportunity. Nevertheless, they were to find the back of the net to give the Bulldogs a nervy end to the match.
Ross Brown made it 2-1 in the 77th minute when he scored on the third attempt after the Ton Pentre defence failed to clear the ball to safety despite Massaro pulling off two fine saves from close range.
The Bulldogs comfortable held out and can now look forward to Monday’s (7 November) live draw on the FA Wales Facebook page from 6pm.
