Ton Pentre Youth are set to play their first home match of the Welsh League Youth Division East season as Ely Rangers come to Ynys Park for a 7.15pm kick off on Monday, 19 September.
The young Bulldogs will welcome back Cameron Hodder, Corey Shephard and Brandon Coombes to the squad, all of whom missed the 2-1 defeat against Caerau Ely.
Taylor Griffiths sits out the second of a 3 match ban from last season. Also missing is Jamie Coombes, who has a broken hand and is likely to be missing for two to three weeks.
Manager Betteney told tonpentreafc.com: “Despite the defeat in our last match, there was way too many positives to be downbeat.
“We had six chances with just the keeper to beat and we had Nicky Rees deputising in goals, so to come away from Cwt-yr-ala with a narrow defeat I think we can take many positives and much confidence into Monday’s game.
“At home we have always been well supported and I hope this season will be exactly the same. With a team full of Rhondda boys and the excellent additions of Corey Shepherd, Mathew Smith and James Tomkinson etc. coupled with the experience of last years lads and the quality of the youngsters we have brought in, I think it could be a successful and exciting season at Ynys Park.”
Ely Rangers began their season with a 3-1 defeat at home against Monmouth Town, therefore both teams will be looking for their first wins of the season at Ynys Park.
