Ton Pentre AFC Chairman, Ceri Jones, has written an open letter to the community detailing that the Bulldogs process of converting to a Community Benefit Society is now complete following ratification by the Football Association of Wales Council.
Below is the Chairman’s letter in full.
6 May 2016
Following a thorough process of consultation, I’m very pleased that following ratification by the FAW Council on 21 April 2016 we have achieved our goal of establishing the new Community Benefit Society structure for Ton Pentre AFC. The new governance structure and associated charitable objects will define how the new look Ton Pentre AFC Ltd will be managed within a transparent and democratic framework.
The club’s structure will enable the Bulldogs to be better prepared for future challenges. These challenges include fully embracing a community led ethos, securing investments to develop infrastructure, the development of community partnerships and the growth of a wide range of footballing participation within the Valle.
The club will now tackle these multiple agendas with a democratically elected Board of volunteers delivering to a transparent set of Society rules and objects. The Board will be elected by the club’s members and it is these members who will own the club.
Further information will be circulated in due course regarding the very simple processes that we will introduce to acquire a membership stake in the club. A simple principle will apply: one member, one vote.
Finally, I would like to put on record my huge gratitude to Supporters Direct who have provided us with expert guidance, advice and support throughout this exciting process that has seen us convert to a CBS. Additionally, we are hugely grateful to the support and can do attitude of our colleagues in the FAW who have shown considerable foresight in helping a Welsh League club convert to this new exciting governance structure.
These are exciting times for the Bulldogs – please jump on board with our journey.
Yours in football,
Ton Pentre AFC Limited
