The Bulldogs are pleased to announce that Christian Byard has been appointed as Head of Youth Development at Ton Pentre.
Byard is a BTEC Sport Lecturer at Cardiff City Foundation who is incredibly excited about joining the Bulldogs in this newly created position.
“I am absolutely delighted to be appointed Head of Youth Development with Ton Pentre,” he told tonpentreafc.com. “I feel extremely privileged to be involved with this historic club.”
Byard, 29, holds a UEFA B Licence and added: “I am looking forward to helping the club write a new chapter for future success.
“I am keen and excited to unearth, develop and nurture the wealth of talent that the Rhondda Valleys has to offer.
“I believe with the vision and focus that he club has, the platform is here to grow and ultimately reach the heights of Welsh League football.”
Graham Bassett, the Bulldogs Head of Football Development, commented on the appointment: “We are delighted to welcome Christian to the club in what is a pivotal new role.”
The Bulldogs are serious about a commitment to developing provision for the support of a new generation of footballers and thereby increasing Ton Pentre’s reach within the community and Bassett added: “Christian brings the right pedigree for the role and we are very much looking forward to enhancing the development of football over the medium to the long term.
“It is currently the missing link at the club but we must stress that our new structures will be built to work in partnership with other football clubs and community groups in our immediate area.”
Meanwhile, Bulldogs Chairman Ceri Jones, said: “We feel this is a new era for the club and for football in the Valleys. I wish Christian all the very best in this exciting new leadership role at the club.”
