The Bulldogs of Ton Pentre will be searching for revenge when they visit Aberbargoed Buds at the Centre for Sporting Excellence in Ystrad Mynach on Saturday (6 January) in Nathaniel Cars Welsh League Division One.
When the teams met at Ynys Park in October 2015, Ton Pentre were in complete control of the tie at half-time after taking the lead through Sam Small, however, a shocking second half performance allowed the Buds to come back and win the match 3-1.
Lee Phillips will expect his Bulldogs team to do better on this occasion and confidence amongst his squad should be high as they come into the match on the back of two successive victories against Monmouth Town and Afan Lido.
Phillips’ squad is looking strong but the Bulldogs will be without suspended Club Captain Tom Davies, who will have a further two matches to sit out following the match against the Buds.
Joining Phillips on the bench for the first time will be his new Assistant Manager Lee Williams, who has joined Ton Pentre following his recent departure from Aberdare Town.
There will be several familiar faces in the Aberbargoed Buds squad on Saturday as the club recently announced that they had re-signed Bulldogs legend Andrew Hughes, who will be keen to face Ton Pentre at the Centre of Sporting Excellence.
The Buds are also expected to have former Wales international defender Darcy Blake in their team for the Bulldogs visit, who will pose a challenge for the Ton Pentre strike force.
The match kicks off at 2.00pm and you can follow updates across Twitter and Facebook during the match.
