Ton Pentre controlled the play during the majority of this Welsh League Youth Division East match and came from behind to win 3-1.
The young Bulldogs also had to hold on to their lead for the majority of the second half with 10 men after striker Nicky Rees was sent off for an off the ball incident.
Somewhat against the run of play, Risca took the lead at Ynys Park in the 11th minute of play. When a free kick was sent into the penalty area, a Risca player applied a neat touch to lob the ball over Bulldogs goalkeeper Cameron Hodder.
Ton Pentre had two goals ruled out for offside before they eventually found an equaliser. The Bulldogs made it 1-1 in 32nd minute when Tyler Rees chipped a cross into the centre of the Risca box for Brandon Coombes to hit the back of the net.
Six minutes later Ton Pentre made their dominance count when Nicky Rees struck the ball past the Risca goalkeeper for 2-1.
In the 57th minute Rees saw red when he allegedly kicked out at an opponent after winning a challenge to set up a useful looking attack. When the referee produced the card there was no argument from Rees or his teammates.
Risca never made their one man advantage count and Ton Pentre continued to be in full control of the match and their hard work was nearly rewarded in the 86th minute when Jamie Coombes was set free by Jac Clements, who had demonstrated some excellent skill in midfield. With just the goalkeeper to beat Coombes looked certain to score but the Risca shot-stopper pulled off a tremendous one handed save.
The Bulldogs finally got the third goal that their performance deserved in the second minute of added time as Dan Kinsey ran clear of the defence. The midfielder easily shimmied his way around the goalkeeper to slot the ball into an empty goal.
This was a fantastic win and an excellent performance.
