Ton Pentre threw everything they could at the Goytre defence, who withstood the Bulldogs pressure after taking the lead with just 10 men in the 47th minute. This result saw the Gwent based club move to the top of Nathaniel Cars Welsh League Division One.
Goytre were very organised in defence and always looked reasonably comfortable during a first half that Ton Pentre probably enjoyed the better of.
When Goytre were reduced to 10 men midway through the half, the Bulldogs could sense the game was there for the taking, however, after conceding a 47th minute free kick, the Bulldogs fell behind when Alex Evans headed the ball into the net.
Following the goal, Goytre stayed deep inside their own half to protect their precious 1-0 lead.
Ton Pentre enjoyed much of the ball and created some excellent chances to equalise with one of the best opportunities occurring in the 75th minute when Richard Evans chipped a cross into the box for Lewis Hitchcock, who sent his free header over the crossbar.
During the first minute of added time, Aaron Jewell saw two of his shots blocked in the six-yard box by the goalkeeper and a defender. The Bulldogs knew that this was not going to be their day.
Moments before the final whistle was blown, Goytre were reduced to 9 men when another player saw red after being shown a second yellow card.
Ton Pentre go to Taffs Well in their next match on Saturday, 26 September at 2.30pm. Following this match, the Bulldogs play home in the FAW theWord Cup Round Two when they welcome Dafabet Welsh Premier League outfit Port Talbot Town to Ynys Park on Tuesday, 29 September at 7.30pm.
