Ton Pentre Youth 2-1 Caerau Ely Youth | Welsh League Youth Division East | Wednesday, 22 April 2015 | Ynys Park

Whilst Caerau Ely’s first team were winning Welsh League Division One on Wednesday (22 April) night, at the same time their youth team were suffering defeat at Ynys Park, as Ton Pentre got back to winning ways with a 2-1 victory.

This Ivy Court Welsh League Youth Division East match was a fairly even affair with both teams looking capable of finding their way to the back of the net, however, the first half finished goalless despite the Bulldogs hitting the crossbar.

Calum Emms came off the bench at half-time to replace an injured Tyler Clatworthy and the Bulldogs attacker soon found his way to the back of the net.

Connor Ray supplied the pass in the 51st minute that set Emms in on the goalkeeper from a wide angle and he applied an acute finish to make it 1-0 to the Bulldogs.

Five minutes later Caerau Ely equalised when Liam Williams was left flatfooted by a lobbed shot that went over his head and into the goal.

The Bulldogs showed good character and scored the eventual winner in the 71st minute when Owain Davies’ cross from the left found Connor Ray, who had timed his run to perfection. The striker was completely unmarked and made no mistake with his finish.

This was an excellent 2-1 win against a team who were third in the League going into the match.

Ton Pentre play Caerau Ely again on Sunday, 26 April at their Cwrt-yr-Ala home. Kick off is at 2.30pm.
