Bulldogs manager Lee Phillips, will be relishing the opportunity of coming up against his former team Aberdare Town, when the Cynon Valley outfit visit Ynys Park on Saturday (21 February) in the Nathaniel Cars Welsh League Division One.
Before taking charge of Ton Pentre, Phillips was in the hot seat at Aberdare, a club that he took to the Quarter Finals of the FAW Welsh Cup last season. The former Cardiff City professional will now be looking to get one over on his former club in a match that both teams really need to win.
“This will be a really tough match for Ton Pentre”, Phillips told tonpentreafc.com. “Both teams will look for all three points in this fixture, in order to climb away from getting involved in any potential trouble towards the bottom of the table.”
Aberdare are one point behind the Bulldogs and third from bottom in the League. Ton Pentre have two games in hand over their visitors, however, a win is vital to stop the Bulldogs from getting sucked into a relegation battle.
Phillips will be without defender Ryan Morgan, who serves the final game of a three match suspension, but Adam Raymond is likely to be available following his absence against Taffs Well in the League Cup last week.
Meanwhile, the experienced Adam Lewis is expected to return to the starting line-up after missing out last week due to being cup-tied. Lewis started the season at Aberdare before returning to Ynys Park and will also be keen for a positive result in the Bulldogs favour.
The game kicks off at 2:00pm and we will provide you with all the regular updates across the website and social media.
