Ton Pentre’s FAW Youth Cup adventure has come to an end following a 4-0 defeat at Ynys Park against Bala Town in the Quarter Finals.
It has been a remarkable achievement for the young Bulldogs who could never have dreamed of reaching the Quarter Finals at the start of this competition.
They knew that Bala Town would prove to be their toughest test yet in the FAW Youth Cup, and the Lakesiders did not disappoint.
Bala played some lovely football in difficult conditions and took the lead after 14 minutes. It was 2-0 shortly after when a free kick evaded the defence before finding its way to a Bala player who netted from close range.
Early in the second half, Connor Ray and Connor Berry linked up in the Bala box. When Ray squared for Berry, the striker failed to make full connection with the ball and it rolled wide. It would have been interesting had this chance gone in.
As the Bulldogs came out looking for a way back into the match, it left them vulnerable to Bala’s counter attacks. In the 67th minute Dan Dascalu made it 3-0 to Bala with a cracking shot from outside the box that was hit high into the net.
Through endeavour, Bala grabbed a fourth goal in the 85th minute despite Ton Pentre’s desperate attempts to stop them.
Ton Pentre’s season certainly isn’t over with their FAW Youth Cup exit as the Bulldogs can now look forward to challenging for the Ivy Court Welsh League Youth Division East title.
The next Youth match is on Sunday, 15 February at Caerau Ely. The game will kick off at 2:00pm.
