Caerleon Youth 1-3 Ton Pentre Youth | Welsh League Youth Division East | Sunday, 21 December 2014 | Cold Bath Road

A Connor Berry hat-trick saw off the challenge of Caerleon in the Ivy Court Welsh League Youth Division East, as the young Bulldogs signed off with a win before Christmas.

Ton Pentre were dominant early on in this game but it took the Rhondda club until the 27th minute to break the deadlock.

Owain Davies and Kurt Hodges were involved in the build-up play that was rounded off when Berry pounced onto a cross in front of goal to make it 1-0.

The Bulldogs lead only lasted 6 minutes after Caerleon equalised with a wonderful goal as they hit Ton Pentre on the break. The ball was superbly struck high into the net and over goalkeeper Liam Williams.

Ton Pentre struggled for a while following the equaliser and Caerleon appeared to grow in confidence and both teams could sense an upset on the cards.

However, the Bulldogs showed good spirit and the hard work of Daniel Kinsey and Tyler Rees in midfield began to turn things around in the second half as Ton Pentre took the game to their opponents.

As a result of this pressure, Ton Pentre regained the lead through Berry in the 75th minute before the striker completed his hat-trick in the 82nd minute when he swept up after an initial shot from Rees was spilled by the Caerleon goalkeeper.

The win puts the Bulldogs in a good position within the Youth League ahead of several key matches ahead.

The Youth Team’s next match is on Tuesday, 30 December 2014 at Ynys Park against Caerau Ely. The match will kick off at 7:15pm.
