Experienced Phillips takes the Ynys Park hotseat

Ton Pentre Football Club is pleased to announce that Lee Phillips has been appointed as First Team Manager.

Phillips has enjoyed a very successful career that has seen him play professional football for Cardiff City and Barry Town. He has also enjoyed spells with Forest Green Rovers, Newport County, Llanelli and Carmarthen Town.

Having made his debut for Cardiff City at 17 years of age, the new Bulldogs Manager was also capped for Wales at various levels including U18 and U21.

As a player, Phillips won 4 Welsh Premier League titles, lifted the FAW Welsh Cup on three occasions and has made 13 appearances in UEFA club competitions.

One of his career highlights includes scoring a goal against FC Porto in Barry Town’s 3-1 win against the Portuguese champions in the UEFA Champions League.

Phillips began his managerial career in 2011 with Aberdare Town and last season reached the Quarter Finals of the FAW Welsh Cup with the Cynon Valley club.

A spokesperson for the Bulldogs said: “The quality of applicants for this role was outstanding and Ton Pentre is delighted to welcome Lee Phillips to Ynys Park.

“Lee brings to the Bulldogs significant experience in the game and we look forward to his leadership in helping us take the Club to a new level.

“The Bulldogs have huge ambition to return to the pillar of Welsh League football and the appointment of Lee Phillips is a major step in the right direction.”

Phillips will be in the stands at Ynys Park for Saturday’s Welsh League Division One match against Goytre United, as the new Bulldogs Manager eagerly awaits the challenge ahead.
