Cambrian & Clydach Vale 4-1 Ton Pentre | Welsh League Division One | Friday, 12 December 2014 | King George V new Field

It was a dismal Rhondda Derby for Ton Pentre after they suffered a 4-1 defeat at Cambrian & Clydach Vale.

The Bulldogs were confident going into this match on the back of two victories, while Cambrian & Clydach had been without a League win in four games.

For the first 20 minutes of the match, Ton Pentre bossed the play and enjoyed the best of the chances.

It therefore came as a surprise for the Bulldogs when they found themselves 1-0 down after 25 minutes when a cross from Cambrian’s right wing was turned into the net underneath the dive of Neil Collins.

From this point on the Bulldogs were disappointing for the remainder of the match as they were unable to muster a response to Cambrian taking the lead.

It was 2-0 on 34 minutes after Cambrian hit Ton Pentre on the break when they failed to keep hold of possession.

Ton Pentre thought that they’d found a way back into the match on 52 minutes when a devastating attack upfield resulted in Ryan Jenkins squaring the ball for Jaymie Wearn to place in the back of the net for 2-1.

When Cambrian forced a corner in the 61st minute, they restored their two-goal lead when the ball was crossed to the centre of the box where a glancing header made it 3-1.

Moments later the home team nearly increased their lead further but were denied by a super save from Collins who pushed the ball over the goal.

Cambrian however, were to score a fourth and it came in the 78th minute as they compounded Ton Pentre to a miserable Rhondda Derby defeat.

Ton Pentre’s next match is at Ynys Park on Saturday, 20 December against Goytre United. The match kicks off at 2:00pm.
