RHONDDA AWAITS AFC PORTH & TON PENTRE DERBY

AFC Porth v Ton Pentre | Welsh League Division One | Wednesday, 27 August 2014 | Kick-off 6:15pm

Jaymie Wearn scored on Ton Pentre's last visit to AFC Porth in a 1-1 draw.

Dinas Park plays host to the first Rhondda Derby of the season as AFC Porth and Ton Pentre clash in a Nathaniel Cars Welsh League Division One match on Wednesday, 27 August at 6:15pm.

Both teams are looking for their first win of the 2014/2015 season after the Bulldogs lost their opening match 1-0 at Afan Lido, whilst AFC Porth were beaten 4-0 by both Goytre (Gwent) and Cardiff Metropolitan University in their opening matches.

AFC Porth were forced into making a managerial change over the summer after Adrian Needs exited the club to manage Aberbargoed Buds in Welsh League Division Two. In response, AFC Porth appointed former Bulldog Richard Haig.

Haig was a prolific goalscorer for Ton Pentre and has also been an assistant manager with the Bulldogs. His last role was as manager of Cambrian & Clydach Vale where he experienced some success.

Haig will certainly know all about Rhondda Derbies and he will have been plotting Ton Pentre’s downfall. Meanwhile, Bulldogs manager Dean Morris has had 10 days in which to get his team over their opening day disappointment.

The gap between fixtures would have given Morris and his players time to work on tactics, set pieces etc. as he eluded to during his post-match reaction on RadioTon following the Afan Lido defeat. You can listen to that RadioTon broadcast below.

Our Bulldogs Live service will be available here on tonpentreafc.com during the match, providing you with the latest score from the Rhondda Derby match.
