Ton Pentre Youth notched up their third win of pre-season following a 2-1 victory against Croesyceiliog Youth.
It was a good workout for the young Bulldogs, who took an early lead in the game when Aaron Evans was on the end of a Connor Ray cross.
Before putting the cross over, Ray had done well to keep his feet to create the opportunity after a Croesyceiliog defender attempted to bring him down. After squaring the ball, Evans applied a confident finish to make it 1-0.
Croesyceiliog had a chance to hit back immediately after when they were awarded a penalty kick. However, the home team missed the penalty with the ball hitting the post and rebounding directly into the Ton Pentre goalkeeper’s hands.
Moments later, Croesyceiliog benefited from a defensive error, which resulted in an equaliser following a back pass that was sent directly in front of goal.
Under increasing pressure, the Bulldogs goalkeeper looked to clear the ball upfield but it rebounded off a Ton Pentre defender and deflected directly into the back of the net.
The Bulldogs were comfortable throughout this match with Croesyceiliog rarely threatening in front of goal but they were defending quite resolutely.
Despite the solid defending, Ton Pentre were able to break through the Croesyceliog defence after being awarded a free kick in the 55th minute.
Callum Rees drifted the free kick into the centre of the 18-yard box and found Connor Berry, who headed the ball out of the Croesyceiliog goalkeeper’s reach to give the Bulldogs a 2-1 victory.
Ton Pentre Youth’s next friendly match is away to Penybont on Sunday, 24th August 2014. The game kicks off at 2:00pm.
