Ton Pentre left Tyn-y-Bryn Park with a pre-season friendly draw against Tonyrefail BGC despite dominating the match and having a 2-0 lead at half time.
The Bulldogs were attempting to play passing football and although they achieved this aim, it was made very difficult by the very long grass.
Ton Pentre finally made their possession count in the 20th minute when a nice move saw the ball enter the box from the left wing. From around 10-yards out, Adam Raymond had the space to fire the ball past the Tonyrefail goalkeeper.
Tonyrefail were chasing shadows and it seemed inevitable that Ton Pentre would score again, and following a 39th minute corner taken by Ryan Jenkins, midfielder Leon Young turned the ball in at the far post for 2-0.
Dean Morris made several changes in the second half and the Bulldogs continued to dominate possession.
It seemed likely that Ton Pentre would score again but Tonyrefail were somehow allowed to pull a goal back in the 69th minute when Nicky McCarthy went through the defensive line to lob the ball over Neil Collins.
Ten minutes later, Tonyrefail were surprised to find themselves level after they had lost possession to the Ton Pentre defence.
Dafydd Brewer was on the ball and the Bulldogs new signing thought he was playing the ball to safety as he kicked it back towards Collins. Brewer however, completely overhit his pass and sent it over Collins and into the back of the net. There was absolutely nothing that Collins could do.
Jaymie Wearn nearly secured the win for Ton Pentre but his 90th minute header was denied by a last ditch fingertip save from the Tonyrefail goalkeeper.
The Bulldogs will be unhappy that they let a two-goal lead slip but they will have an opportunity to put that disappointment behind them on Saturday, 9 August against Llantwit Major. Kick off is at 2:30pm.
