Ynys Park will play host to its two tenants on Saturday, 19 July as Ton Pentre and Ton & Gelli BC are set to clash in their first pre-season friendly ahead of the 2014/2015 season. Kick off is at 2.30pm.
The teams have not met each other for many years and the local community are sure to be excited about this mouthwatering encounter.
Neither team will want to lose this match but many will feel that Ton & Gelli BC will be up against it due to the gap in leagues between the two clubs.
While Ton Pentre are an established Welsh League Division One outfit, Ton & Gelli ply their trade in South Wales Amateur League Division One, but there will be an unpredictability to the match with it being the first friendly ahead of the season.
Bulldogs supremo Dean Morris, will look to show off his summer signings in the match amongst the familiar faces of last season’s squad, while Richard Taylor has been working Ton & Gelli hard in training to prepare them for this game.
Following the toss of a coin, Ton & Gelli have won the use of the home dressing room and the Bulldogs will use the away dressing room for the very first time.
Both clubs have agreed on an entrance fee of £2 for adults, £1 for concessions and free entry for children 16 and under. The gate money raised from this friendly will go towards covering the costs of the pitch maintenance on Ynys Park, that both clubs have contributed to over the close season.
