Ton Pentre AFC is delighted to announce that it will re-ignite Welsh League Youth Division football at Ynys Park in the 2014/2015 season.
The club is seeking to consolidate links with the local community by providing a platform for a new generation of players to compete in Welsh League football.
The new Youth Management team will be led by former Bulldog, Ryan Betteney.
Betteney has represented the Bulldogs at both Youth and Senior level, playing for the club’s initial youth side which entered the Welsh Football League Youth Division in the 2008/2009 season as well as having a brief stint at the Club at the start of the current season.
Also joining the club as part of Betteney’s coaching team is Thomas Davies and Matthew Evans, who both also represented the Bulldogs at youth team level.
In addition to competing in the Welsh Football League Youth Division, the young Bulldogs will enter the the FAW Youth Cup, which could possibly see the new boys lining up against illustrious opposition in the form of Cardiff City and Swansea City.
A Bulldogs spokesperson underlined the Club’s vision with respect to the youth development: “We are very excited about this new direction for the club.
“Ton Pentre AFC is a Rhondda institution and this presents a fantastic opportunity for the younger generation in our communities to pull on the red jersey.”

“It is important to stress that the Bulldogs want to build a model based on partnerships within our community, in particular working in conjunction with Boys and Girls clubs throughout the valley.”
The move to add a youth team will present significant challenges in terms of funding and resources – the Club is actively seeking sponsors to co-invest in this exciting development for Ton Pentre and the Rhondda as a whole.
