Carmarthen Town will visit Ton Pentre on Saturday, 10th August for the Bulldogs final pre-season friendly match before they kick off the Welsh League season.
The Old Gold, who play their football in the Corbett Sports Welsh Premier League, are managed by former Wales international Mark Aizlewood. He will bring his team to Ynys Park expecting them to be victorious against the Bulldogs.
Ton Pentre’s opponents have been on the road for all of their pre-season games, as Carmarthen Town’s Richmond Park is a match venue for the UEFA Women’s Under 19 Championships, that are being hosted in West Wales from 19th to 31st August. The Old Gold will host the stand-out fixture of the tournament when Wales play England on Thursday, 22nd August.
Many of you may remember that Ton Pentre hosted Wales’ first friendly match in preparation for these finals against Estonia in August 2012, which the Welsh U19s won 5-0.
At the game against Carmarthen Town, the Bulldogs will be giving away copies of a special edition of the Football Association of Wales magazine, The Voice, which features a preview of the UEFA U19 Championships. The Voice also features articles on Ian Rush and the new FAW Headquarters at Dragon Park in Newport. The Voice will be distributed on a first come first served basis.
Carmarthen Town come into the match against Ton Pentre on the back of a 3-1 defeat to Bath City. However, Aizlewood’s team have beaten Cambrian & Clydach Vale 6-3 and defeated Taffs Well 4-0 in friendly matches.
Meanwhile, the Bulldogs will be confident in front of goal following the midweek hammering of Aberfan SDC, which saw new signing Andrew Hammett bag a hat-trick.
This pre-season friendly match kicks off at 2.30pm.
