Ton Pentre are all set for a friendly encounter with Corbett Sports Welsh Premier League team Afan Lido today (Saturday, 27th July 2013) at Ynys Park. The match kicks off at 2.30pm.

Crowd ShotThe Bulldogs come into the match on the back of a 5-1 home defeat against Merthyr Town, which was played last Thursday. The final score was deceptive as the match had been a reasonably close affair until the last ten minutes. There was certainly enough on show for Dean Morris to be happy with his players.

Ton Pentre’s opponents, Afan Lido, finished bottom of the Welsh Premier League last season but were saved from relegation as the MacWhirter Welsh Football League failed to offer a promotion candidate as eventual winners West End had not applied and neither does their ground meet the stringent criteria.

Afan Lido have been pretty busy in the transfer market over the past few weeks with their manager, Paul Evans, looking to strengthen his squad ahead of the new season.

Amongst his new signings is Jamal Roberts who played for Taffs Well last season and should be more than capable of making the step-up in standard. Meanwhile, the Lido have also captured Shaun O’Leary, who will also act as a coach in addition to being available to play.

This will be a good test for the Bulldogs and if you’re unable to make it to the match, you can keep up to date on our Twitter and Facebook pages. You can find links to these down the right-hand side of this page.
