When AFC Porth visit Ynys Park on Wednesday, 3rd April they will be looking to complete a season double over Ton Pentre with the Black Dragons having beaten the Bulldogs 1-0 back in September.

Ton Pentre v AFC Porth PosterThe match between these two Rhondda adversaries kicks off at 7.30pm with a large crowd expected to gather at Ynys Park for this latest derby encounter between the two clubs.

The game will see former Bulldogs striker Tom McCarthy return to Ynys Park for the first time since his controversial move down the Valley to Dinas Park. Since transferring, McCarthy has scored six league goals for the Black Dragons giving him a total of eight for the season having scored two for Ton Pentre.

Porth will be favourites for the points in this fixture as they remain title contenders sitting fourth in the Welsh League Division One table, five points behind Taffs Well at the summit having played a game more. Therefore, the pressure will be on Adrian Need’s team as they look to maintain the squeeze on those above them.

Meanwhile, Bulldogs manager Dean Morris will be keen for an unexpected three points in order to distance Ton Pentre from the bottom end of the table where some of the clubs have been picking up points.

Ton Pentre should have come away from Bridgend Town with all three points in their last match after dominating the game at the Brewery Field, however, the Bulldogs let their slender lead slip allowing Bridgend to score an equaliser two minutes before full-time. You can read a match report for the game here.

Morris will be happy that his team can do some damage to their opponents from Porth if they can produce the same kind of performance that they mustered in that game against Bridgend.

Rhondda Derby matches are always an exciting affair so hopefully you will decide to come along to Ynys Park Wednesday, 3rd April to watch the game. However, for those fans who are unable to make it to the match, we will of course have our regular Bulldogs Live Score service here on TonPentreAFC.com from the 7.30pm kick off.
